- The petition is dated to? 1299 based on the inquisition and grant made in June and November 1299 (CIM 1219-1307, no.1787; CPR 1292-1301, p.451). However, whilst the guard note accepts the dating of 1299, the inquisition may not, and the grant certainly does not relate specifically to this petition, so that the date is suspect. However, it is unlikely that the date is too distant from 1299 if 1299 does indeed prove incorrect.
