SC 8/174/8684
Date
[? 1382]
Description
Petitioners
None.
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The petition states that charters of pardon were issued each person of the realm who wished to pursue them within a certain term, for all manner of felonies (with certain exceptions which are listed) perpetrated before 14 December 5 [Richard II], and. for all manner of trespasses and misdeeds committed before the same term, which would have resulted in a fine or redemption to the king or his heirs, again with certain exceptions. It asks that charters in the same form might be made to any person of the realm who wishes to pursue them, without limiting the term in which they have to pursue them.
Nature of endorsement
[On face].This bill was granted by the king at Westminster 12 October in the present year.[On dorse, none].
Places mentioned
Westminster.
Note
The petition probably dates to 1382 as the petition refers to 14 December 1381, and the 12 October 'anno presenti', which seems likely to be in the following year.
