Description
Petitioners
Agnes Burdoun (Burdon), widow of John Burdoun.
Name(s)

Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Burdoun states that the king assigned her 20 marks for her sustenance for the great loss that she has suffered in the lands of Scotland, taking her pay at the Exchequer, which payment is rarely made, at great cost and trouble to the petitioner. She asks that she might have an assignment to the Lady de Frendraught, who takes 60 marks from Brigstock in Northamptonshire of which the rent at the Exchequer is 20 marks, so that she might have these 20 marks.
Nature of endorsement
The king intends that it be delivered by the treasurer.
Places mentioned
Scotland
Brigstock, Northamptonshire.
People mentioned
John Burdoun (Burdon)
[Margery], Lady de Ferundraw (Frendraught), wife of Roger Comyn
Roger Comyn.
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1318 on the basis of a fine roll reference to the grant of Brigstock to Margery, widow of Duncan de Frendraught, who is presumably the Lady of Frendraught who by the time of the petition had married Roger Comyn (CFR 1307-19, p.372, dated 13 August 1318). In addition there is an enrolment of a liberate for the £20 for the sustenance of the petitioner of 12 December 1318 that may be as a result of the petition and its response (C 61/95, m.3).
