The merchants request that the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer be ordered to cease all processes against them concerning the sum demanded from them for the emperor of Constantinople, and that they can be discharged of the sum in demand as they have paid the sum which was given to them by the bishop of Chalcedon and have his letters of acquittance.
Nature of endorsement
20 August in the second year, the council [names listed] agreed that the petitioners should show their acquittances, and then the chancellor is to make writs under the great seal directed to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to cease the process and to give them final discharge.

The petition is dated to 1401 as the petition is dated on its guard to 20 August in the second year, and the members of the council referred to in the response clearly dates this to 2 Henry IV.
