Description
Petitioners
William le Bradewelle (Bradwell); Peronele le Nevyle (Neville), wife of William le Bradwell.
Name(s)
Bradewelle (Bradwell); Nevyle (Neville), William; Peronele
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Bradewell and Nevyle request that the protection granted to the earl of Richmond be repealed as he is not in the king's service but the protection has delayed the suit that they have against him.1)
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council that he was not in the king's service and should not have been granted protection so that the protection should be repealed if it pleases the king.2) It pleases the king that if they are able to show by the rolls of Chancery that such a protection was granted then it should be repealed as is demanded by the protection.
People mentioned
John de Britaigne (Bretagne, Brittany), Earl of Richmond.
Note
The petition is dated to 1330 as the petition is published in Rot. Parl. II from a Hale manuscript which dated the petitions to the parliament held after the feast of St Katherine 4 Edw. III (1330) (Rot. Parl. vol. II::p.36a-b (no.26)).
