King and council.
Nature of request
Benton requests a writ of Chancery to the treasurer or his lieutenant, and to the chamberlains of the Exchequer that they receive a tally that he had from them for £40, and make assignment for it in another place or paying the money from the treasury as reason demands as the sum is in demand in the Exchequer and he had been assigned by the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to take the sum from the sheriff of Westmorland from the remainder of his account by writ of the Exchequer and the tally to purvey victuals for the use of the king, but the sheriff had already given the £40 to Clifford by order of the king.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered by writ of Chancery to the treasurer and chamberlains of the Exchequer that they receive the tally from the petitioner, and pay to the petitioner from the treasury £40 in compensation for the £40 for which he is charged by the Exchequer and has not received just as appears by the tally.
