Nature of request
Essex requests remedy and that the money which his late father had put in a chest in the church of St Andrew Hubbard, and which was stolen by a robber and came into the hand of the constable of the Tower and the sheriffs of London when the thief was arrested be repaid to him so that his father's will can be executed. The money was given to the keeper of the Wardrobe, and nothing has since been done although Essex had a writ of liberate from Henry III to Stratton because the king died in the meantime.1)
