Merchants of the wool comprised in the cockets on this petition.

Nature of request
The merchants request that they are able to ship wool to the staple of Calais from Sandwich free of custom, and that they can have writs to the customers at Sandwich commanding them to suffer this as the custom was paid on the wool on four ships out of London which were wrecked on rocks at Ramsgate following a great tempest on 13 November 1417.
Nature of endorsement
It is agreed by the council that writs be directed to the customers of Sandwich ordering them to view the cockets of the petitioners and that they are to allow the merchants to take the wool to the staple at Calais free of custom.
