Liege men of the town of Whitby.

Nature of request
The men request a grant on each 1,000 herring coming within the bounds of the market, and on all goods coming by sea or land for 20 years in aid of the repair of the bridge in their town which is now ruinous.1)
Nature of endorsement
They should sue in Chancery to have certain limitation of time without making a fine in aid of making the repair of the port for the ease of the people.2) And afterwards the chancellor in Chancery at the priory of Southwark limited the pontage for the duration of 7 years without making a fine for the common profit and utility.
