- The people request the king's aid as they have kept the town at their own costs since the beginning of the Scottish war, building the defences of the city, and guarding the city, and because the surrounding country is devastated by the war neither the merchants or craftsmen have anything to live on.
- Nature of endorsement
- It pleases the king and council that they should have pardon of the farm of the town for two years just as the earl of Pembroke announced on the king's part, and was written in the rolls of parliament.
