Nature of request
Nevylle and the people request that an inquisition be held to examine the matter of Rowell as Rowell was indicted before the justices of the peace and outlawed and the justices assessed his goods at £20, however, Rowell was Nevylle's neif and before this time he had taken his goods and chattels into his hand so that at the time of the indictment he had nothing. The sum is now demanded from Nevylle and the people of Enderby and if the commission finds the facts are as they say they request that they be discharged.

Let a writ be directed to the treasurer and barons to enquire of this, and if they find that Rowell was a villein, and Nevylle and was seised of his goods and chattels at the time of the felony or before, then they should cease [their demands].
