- Herbard requests that Paston be made to appear before the king to be examined concerning his actions against her, and to show the evidences that were her mother's, and to ordain that she should receive her evidences and to be admitted to her lands in Plumstead as law demands. Paston offered to purchase her rights to land in Plumstead which was her inheritance, but she refused, and he procured that she be imprisoned in London in chains where he forced her to make an acquittance of her rights in the same so that she could obtain her freedom, and then again imprisoning her.

- The petition is dated to 1426-1437 on the basis of the dating given to this petition and other documents by Davis (Davis, Paston Letters, part II::p.509). However, the dating of SC 8/116/5771 suggests that this petition could be as late as 1444.
