Chancellor and scholars of the University of Oxford.

Nature of request
[Petition in 3 parts].1) The chancellor and scholars request that the king grant the composition that was ordained in the parliament held after Easter in the 10th year of his father's reign concerning the disputes between them and the mayor and burgesses of Oxford, and which has resided in the treasury be sealed with the king's seal.2) They request that the mayor and bailiffs . . . as trespasses are committed against them by people of ill-fame who come into the town but reside outside the walls in many liberties where they cannot be taken.3) The clerks request that the king stop his agents taking victuals in Oxford as those who carry victuals to Oxford have withdrawn from the town because of this.1)
Nature of endorsement
The mayor of Oxford should have the composition before the council next Monday.2) Concerning the second petition it is answered that the mayor and bailiffs should pursue and arrest trespassers in the town and suburbs, within and without the liberties, to maintain the peace of the University, as necessary when [informed by] the Chancellor and proctor.3) To the last . . . [illegible].
