- The petition is dated to? 1330-? 1345 because the dating of this and associated petitions presents real problems for dating. The petitioner, as he makes clear in his petitions, is involved in a very protracted legal suit, and the hands of the petitions vary quite considerably from hands of the 1330s-1340s (SC 8/32/1600; SC 8/169/8436) to a hand that looks securely of the 1350s (SC 8/145/7241).
