Commonalty of the town of Scarborough.

Nature of request
The commonalty request a writ to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that if they find by the rolls of accounts of the king's chamber that the king's was fully satisfied in his chamber for the farm in the year that the king seized the vill of Scarborough and the manor of Falsgrave into his hand that an allowance be made without further delay. They have requested allowance in parliament, but this has not been allowed in the Exchequer.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered by writ containing the effect of the petition to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that they view the writ mentioned in the petition and that they make allowance according to the tenure of the writ, and if the cause is reasonable, and if there is a reason that it ought not to be done they should certify the king on this.

Note
The petition is dated to c. 1327 in accordance with the suggested dating given in the guard note. The petition is clearly early in Edward III's reign referring back to events in 5 Edw. II. The date also fits well with related petitions by the same petitioners that date from 1324-1331.
