Nature of request
The men request that the letters patent preventing alien merchants from coming by water further inland than Winchelsea be repealed as the prohibition is to their great harm, as they have nothing else to sustain them than to sell their firewood.
Nature of endorsement
Let the patent mentioned in this petition be repealed so that the common people are able to sell their firewood in the places where they are accustomed to do, but they are not to commit fraud by colour of this and ship wool and other customable goods against the form of the statute.
