Nature of request
The petitioners state that, by a statute made in 27 Edward III, stolen goods which appear in the lands of the king should be restored to the merchant from whom they were stolen if he can prove ownership. Last July a galley from Barcelona carrying their goods was attacked and stolen by various people, and although they have sought restitution, they have not succeeded. They therefore request that they be allowed to prove ownership of the goods, and that the goods and the ship be restored to them.
