Nature of request
Henry English, sheriff of Essex, states that he sent his bailiff, Dane, to arrest Panyman on a writ of statute staple. When he made the arrest, Cokefeld, the chief constable of Tendring hundred, and many others from Manningtree came and attacked Dane, so that English has now lost the service of his servant in the hundred, which has greatly emboldened all the troublemakers in that hundred.
