de Leyset, Robert

King and Council.
Nature of request
Robert de Leyset states that he was constable of Bordeaux for the king's father at the start of the war, but he was captured by the French and imprisoned for over two years, and as a result received nothing from the wardrobe for that period. However, the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer have found in their books that Edmund Jolla received certain sums during that time, for which Robert is being held to account. Langton was summoned to show whether Leyset was answerable for these sums, but he could not, and nor could his executors after his death, as shown in the attached schedule. However, 35 marks have been taken from goods belonging to him. He therefore requests that he be discharged from these sums and be restored to everything taken from him without cause.
