The Attorneys of the bishops of Winchester and Norwich state that the bishops are currently on the king's service in France, and knew nothing of the king's recent military summons to Newcastle before their departure. The Attorneys claim that they have no power to raise the bishops' people, and therefore request that the king ensure that the bishops do not suffer damage or impeachment for their failure to attend or send their people.
