de Joneston (Johnston), Ellis
Addressees
King and Council.
Nature of request
[Ellis de Joneston appears to make a request relating to the payment and accounting of his wages and fees in Aquitaine during the time of the king's father. However, the petition is badly damaged and incomplete, and parts of what remains are stained and illegible. As a result the precise nature of the request is difficult to reconstruct.]
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council that it should be written as before (sicut alias).
Places mentioned
Aquitaine, [France]
Bordeaux, [Guyenne, France].
People mentioned
Constable of Bordeaux.
Note
Dated on the guard to? c.1327, with reference to further petitions at SC 8/167/8303 and SC 8/218/10886. The petition refers to Joneston's service to the king's father, and hence must date to the early part of the reign of Edward III, and after the death of Edward II.
