[c. 1327]

William de Eyncourt (Deincourt).
Name(s)
de Eyncourt (Deincourt), William
Addressees
King and Council.
Nature of request
[This petition is damaged, and some areas are partially illegible.]William Deincourt requests the restoration of certain rights relating to the view of frankpledge in his manor of Blankney. These rights had been held by his family since the Conquest but were removed when the manor was taken into the king's hands following the death of Edmund Deincourt, his grandfather.
Nature of endorsement
Before the king and the great council. The council do not agree that the king should make such a grant to the detriment of his crown.
Places mentioned
Blankney, Lincolnshire.
People mentioned
Edmund Dayncourt (Deincourt), grandfather of the petitioner.
Note
Dated on the guard to c. 1327, with reference to SC 8/200/9989, another petition from this petitioner relating to his inheritance from Edmund Deincourt. The inquisitions post mortem following Edmund Deincourt's death were held in January 1327, when William was already over 26 years old, and thus presumably both petitions were submitted in the next few months or years.
