Nature of request
Hugh Cheyne states that the king has ordered him to keep the town and castle of Ludlow for as long as they are in the king's hands, with a fee of 40 marks annually from the profits of the town, and requests that he be granted letters patent in that form.
Nature of endorsement
On 6 June 4 [Henry IV] present in the council were the chancellor, Treasurer, Bishop of Rochester, Keeper of the Privy Seal, Lord Roos, Lord Willoughby, Hugh Waterton, John Cheyne, John Savage and John Norbury, who agreed that the petitioner have the keeping of the said town and castle [terms given].
