Nature of endorsement
On 12 January in the 2nd year [1401], with the bishop of Durham, the earls of Northumberland and Worcester, the chancellor, treasurer, keeper of the privy seal, Prophete and Cursoun present in the council, the letters patent should be examined in the Chancery ... of the King made to Felbrigg or in the Chancery ... writs of liberate or allocate just as appears in a writ of formedon.

Dated on the guard to? 1401, with reference to the endorsement dated to the second year; the king must be Henry IV, since Richard II is referred to as the late king. John de Gournay was sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk from 1399-1400 and again from November to December 1408.
