Nature of request
The dean and chapter of Lichfield request that the treasurer and barons of the exchequer be ordered to search their remembrances and divide the taxes owed from Eccleshall into three equal parts and assign each part. They state that by the king's permission and the authority of the court of Rome they have the right to divide the prebend of Eccleshall in the diocese of Lichfield into three equal parts, from which to make two new prebends, [one] called the prebend of Eccleshall and the other called the prebend of Offley (Bishop's Offley), and the third part called Slindon is appropriated to the dean and chapter forever. The petitioners have forty days for the new prebends to arrange for payments of multure and the collection of tithes in proportion.
