John de Chatherton requests ... taken by coroners of the said county ... his death was indicted and of the said Henry nothing was [found] ... and Bredkirk ... malice and procurement of Henry's enemies took another inquest of the death of the said Richard ... Henry, by which inquest Henry was indicted falsely of harbouring some men who were at the death of the said Richard and that he should be ... because of the said harbouring and that he had goods and chattels worth £100 ... his said goods and then afterwards Henry's enemies sued a writ out of the Chancery to the said ... cause the said indictment to come into the King's Bench, which coroners found the said indictment, which inquest was ... the view of the body of the said Richard, wherefore the said inquest was taken five years after his death ... because of which false indictment the justices of the King's Bench charged Henry of the said £100 by their estreats ordered in the Exchequer and the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer have ordered the ... of Lancashire to levy the said £100 from Henry, wherefore he sued in the parliament of Edward [III] by a bill containing the matter and aforesaid grievances, requesting remedy that his goods would not be taken by such false indictment contrary to right and reason, which bill was endorsed and sent to Cavendissh to examine the indictment and if it was found to be made in error ..., that the King and council grant the same suit to the petitioner, or he will be disinherited.
