- The men of the realm request that whereas diverse suits have been made to legitimise bastards and to annul the profession of monks, canons, nuns and other religious, which matters are commonly sent to bishops and other ordinaries to certify in the King's court, by which certifications the bastards are often legitimised and the religious unprofessed in disinheritance of others who were not party to such suits, that such certifications should be barred.
