Note
Dated on the guard to? 1324, with reference to CCR 1323-7, p. 56, a 1324 order to allow the men of Northumberland respite, and SC 8/64/3199, a later but very similar petition from the same petitioners on the same subject. Fraser, Northumberland Petitions, pp. 190-1, dates the petition to? 1325, with reference to CCR 1323-7, pp. 262 and 439, grants of respite of all farms, wards, cornages, truncages, fenssilver, etc. owed in Northumberland. The petition must date from between March 1323, when the truce was reached, and 1326 since Horsley was relieved of his charge in February 1327. As to the similarity between this petition and SC 8/64/3199, Fraser suggests that they may be first and second editions of the same petition, both presented at the parliament of January 1327.
