Nature of request
Pyget requests remedy against Fairfax and Etton who, with 400 others armed and arrayed for war, rode to Clotherholme on the Tuesday after the feast of All Saints and entered his manor with force and arms, broke into his rooms, stole his goods and chattels and the hats and clothes of his men and servants there and burned them, killed Cote, injured, beat and wounded his other servants, frightened his wife with their horrible acts and threatened Pyget's life so that, fearing being trapped by their assembly, he stays away from his manor, as a result of which great royal commissions were sent to certain lords and the sheriff of Yorkshire to arrest these criminals and for Pyget to ensure peace, which he has done, but nothing has yet been done because the criminals are more daring and gather others to them to support their crimes.
