Blakwell requests that he be granted the office of keeper of the mint at Kenilworth, originally granted to him on 3 March 1402 by Henry IV by [letters patent under] the seal of his duchy of Lancaster for his service in the office of the pantry of his household, [to hold] for the term of his life with the fees, wages and other profits belonging to the same office in the same way as Smert had it. Burell in the time of Henry V, a long time after the date of the said letters patent, ... Blakwell had the possessions of the said office and sued before Henry V ..., alleging that Blakwell had fully agreed to relinquish his estate so that Burell could have the office, so that Henry V granted Burell the office ..., so that Burell occupies the office to the great distress and damage of Blakwell, who never agreed to relinquish his estate.
