Birun, to whom the king granted custody of the lands and underage heir of Langeford which he held in chief for 120 marks, requests remedy against Gredling who (although he holds all his lands and tenements of the aforesaid heir in Derbyshire, and the heir holds them of the King in chief) without licence alienated ten pounds-worth of land in Cresswell to Gonsil, and when Birun put his men in the said tenement to prevent Gonsil from taking seisin, he violently ejected Birun's men with horses and arms, in contempt of the king and disinheritance of the heir.1)
