Nature of request
Everingham requests, that whereas he was in the earl of Lancaster's company immediately after the earl's death he was imprisoned in the castle of York and his lands and chattels seized into the king's hands. He was ordered to pay 400 marks before his lands would be restored, and has already paid 150 marks of this, and has entered into bonds with the Bishop of Exeter, to whom the king had given the manor of Birkin, worth 120 marks so he could recover the manor. He requests that he be quit of the remainder.

Note
Dated on the guard to 1327, with reference to CCR 1327-30, p. 5, a 1327 order in response to this petition to discharge and acquit Everingham of 250 marks, the remainder of a fine of 400 marks which he owed to Edward II for his life and lands, because he was of the household of Thomas, late earl of Lancaster.
