Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
When Oxeneye and le Curteler were in the king's service in Butetourte's fleet, the Scots took a ship laden with wine between Dover and Calais, killed the ship's men and took the ship to Scotland where it was held for three weeks until Butetourte and the fleet retook it between Aberdeen and Melrose. Tassandria then demanded the wine which had been on the ship from the petitioners and sued writs of trespass against them and others in the King's Bench, one in Yorkshire saying that they took the ship by Ravenser and another in Norfolk and Suffolk saying that they took it by Great Yarmouth, wherefore they are in danger of being outlawed. Oxeneye and le Curteler request that the suits brought against them be adjourned until parliament and that they be tried by men-at-arms since the ship was taken by force in time of war.
