Nature of request
Richard de Boyland owed the king over £400, for which his lands were seized in the King's hand. After his death John de Boyllaunde paid £140 and instalments of £40 a year until the debt was paid, during which time a tenement was recovered from Boyllaunde by a writ of mort d'ancestor with damages of £46, for which all his chattels and the moiety of his lands were taken, whereby he could not pay his instalments. Boyllaunde requests that the king return all his chattels and lands as if he had kept to the terms of his instalments.1)
Nature of endorsement
Let the extent go to the Exchequer on the morrow of All Souls and be examined, and if it is found that he holds by an extent then attermination should be mitigated having compensation to the value of the land lost, and in the mean time execution of justice should cease by a writ of ad quod damnum.2) One copy of this petition to remain in the Exchequer and the other in the Chancery.
