The prior request that the king will be advised of his rights, and that the prior not be disinherited as they have held the manor of Carham from time out of memory, but Hauden, of the allegiance of the land of Scotland has entered and occupied part of the manor amounting to 4 carucates of land and attached them to the lordship of Scotland.
Nature of endorsement
[Response endorsed twice, one in an apparently later more cursive hand].Let keepers of the peace be assigned upon the Marches both of the parts of Carlisle as of Northumberland, and let it be directed to the king of Scotland that he assign keepers, and that those who made the chevauchee [be made to come] and do right to the complainants, and the things that are not able to be determined be sent to one of the kings, and that by the councils of those parts thus it is able to be done.
