Reference
SC 8/162/8080
Date
[? 1310-? 1330]
Description
Petitioners
Henry, the king's almoner.
Name(s)
Henry
Addressees
Treasurer and council.
Nature of request
The almoner requests a special licence to plead his debtors at the Exchequer, as he is unable to sue to his debtors because of his constant close proximity to the king.
Nature of endorsement
The justices of the Bench should be written to that they should grant a say grace.
Note
The petition is speculatively dated to? 1310-? 1330 on the basis of the hand. A Henry the Almoner, probably Henry de Bluntesdon, held the prebendary of Kentish Town in the late-thirteenth or early-fourteenth century, but this may be too early as Bluntesdon's successor in the prebendary was replaced in 1315, and the petition appears to date from slightly later.
