Nature of request
The people request remedy as Kew ransomed them for £60 of silver to levy men-at-arms against the present king when he came into England to destroy the Despensers, which sum was received at the Exchequer of the late king, and committed other ransoms and imprisonments in that country for which the late king ordered an enquiry before whom Kells was indicted, but the late king provided no remedy and Kells left England.
Nature of endorsement
They should sue before those assigned to enquire and to hear and determine trespasses, oppressions and complaints made by sheriffs, sub-sheriffs and other ministers etc. and before them let justice be done.
