Evere requests that the purport of two charters by which the king had granted and confirmed the grant made by Bertram to his father be renewed as is found in the rolls of Henry III in the form of an inspeximus as the charters were burnt by the Scots when the petitioner was a minor in the king's keeping.1)

Coram rege.2) He should go into Chancery and report before the council concerning that which by scrutiny is found by letters of the king of the privy seal, and if it is found in Chancery that it is as the king ordered, then let him have an inspeximus in the form requested.

The petition is dated on the guard to 'temp Ed I'. If the petition does date to Edw. I's reign, then it is late in the reign. The petition probably relates to the Eure family claims to Darras Hall in Northumberland, Roger Bertram having sold his rights to the service from Roger Darreyns to Hugh de Eure in 1268, which may be the events referred to in the second and third lines of the petitions. If this is correct, the petitioner is Hugh de Eure's son, and according to Fraser, a Guy Darreyns mortgaged his manor of Darras Hall to John de Eure (the petitioner) in 1302-3 [Fraser, Northumberland Petitions, pp.42-3]. This petition refers to events in the minority of the petitioner, so it seems likely that a date of c. 1295-c. 1307 is not unreasonable.
