[Petition in 2 parts].1) Shordich requests that satisfaction be made to him of the £40 of land or rent for the term of his life according to his charter of the king's father. The late king granted that he could acquire the manor of Passenham by advocacy in the court of Arches for his service overseas and in England, and he further granted that if the king wished to resume the manor, that he would be granted the £40 annually, but at the coming of the queen Shordich was ousted without any provision for the £40.2) He requests that he be granted some suitable regard since he is unable to live of the manor in regard of his losses in advocacy, and because he has been ousted from the office of chief clerk of Common Pleas.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council, if it pleases the king, that because of his charter he ought to have compensation, and because the record is before the council that they speak with him to reside continually with the king upon the business concerning Gascony, and that it is good that such parlance continue.It pleases the king that compensation be made.
