Nature of request
The men of Northampton request that they be assigned some other form of revenue towards their farm to replace the revenue lost when the staple was withdrawn from England and the revenue in the town from cloth workers declined; and that they should have their fair set at a new time of year as they have no profit from the present one because of the fair of Westminster.
Nature of endorsement
It seems to the council, if it pleases the king, that they should have a fair to last eight days.
