Nature of request
The sub-prior and convent request an inhibition to the archbishop of York, the dean and chapter of York, the bishops of Durham and Carlisle, and the bailiff of Hexham that they are not to distrain or otherwise disturb them in their goods and possessions until the dispute with the archbishop has been settled at law. Despite a royal protection the archbishop through his bailiff has sequestered all their goods and lands in the liberty of Hexham, and caused the bishops of Durham and Carlisle to do the same because they will not accept Boroughbridge as their prior against the priory's privileges, they having elected Welpington.
