Description

Transmits a petition from a 'free Black man' called Pierre recently tried and convicted by the Supreme Court of Obeah; was sentenced to 14 years to the hulks at Woolwich and then 14 years to New South Wales; Governor Smith stated sentence appeared of unusual severity and called for copies of the indictments, and of the judges notes and report [enclosed in item].
