Description

Miscellaneous, Grenada, Folios 200 - 258.

Includes:

  • extract from the evidence of Alexander Campbell, one of the Committee of the Legislature of Grenada, reporting on queries concerning 'the protection & management of Slaves' with letter from Wilberforce, dated 28 January 1805;
  • letter dated 12 February 1805 referring to Mr Otway's accounts;
  • letter dated 12 February 1805, forwarding a letter from Robert Otway [in item];
  • letter dated 28 February 1805, from W Wood, referring to his brother Captain Wood, Commander of Ship, who in 1795 commanded a sloop of war, and took a prize called The Brothers on a voyage from Martinique to Trinidad, with related enclosures;
  • proclamation dated 7 March 1805 appointing Frederick Maitland to be Governor of Grenada;
  • letter dated 13 March 1805, from Lang & Turing, transmitting a deed relating to a sugar plantation called La Fortune, refers to enslaved persons of African heritage;
  • letter from the Admiralty Office, dated 18 March 1805, referring to appointment of Frederick Maitland as Governor of Grenada;
  • letter dated 24 March 1805 from A C Adye, transmitting documents showing sentiments of the Council and Assembly on a recent publication in the Gazette of Trinidad referring to, in the Council's words, the 'administration of Justice on the Suppression of the late Rebellion and Insurrection in this Island'; related enclosures and printed article in French in the Trinidad Weekly [?], 12 January 1805;
  • letters dated 1 and 4 April 1805 from Treasury Department;
  • letters dated 24 July and 2 August 1805 from A C Adye;
  • letter dated 6 August 1805 from Treasury on subject of forfeited estates;
  • note dated 18 September 1805 from Admiralty Office;
  • letter dated 20 September 1805 from Treasury;
  • letter dated 25 September 1805 from Treasury on subject of forfeited estates;
  • letter dated 9 December 1805 from Treasury on claim made by Dr Cockburne on estate of Plaisance;
  • letter dated 9 December 1805 from Treasury referring to widow and children of late F C M Clozier;
  • letter dated 13 December 1805 from Office of Committee of Privy Council for Trade, Whitehall relating to importing certain articles from United States of America in American vessels.
