Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick to Bute, partly in cipher: as the French have not passed Gotha and Marshal Daun has not advanced, he does not intend to send assistance to Prince Henry of Prussia. Discipline in the army is suffering as offenders are punished by their national commanders. He requests authority to administer punishment throughout the army. He recommends the advancement of able officers. Dated at Hildesheim. ff. 337-340
