This is a manuscript copy from the Western Summary concerning Francis Clarke, convicted [on the Western Assizes] for murdering her illegitimate child. She was acquitted on the first two occasions there being flaws in the indictment. On the third occasion she was found guilty and the case referred to the opinion of the 'Twelve Judges'. They stated no-one can be tried twice for the same offence and Clarke is now free.
