Pages 374-376. H Hobhouse to R Fletcher, Bolton acknowledging his letter of 30 April, and apologizing for his late reply. Sidmouth was interested to hear Fletcher's opinion on the use of pikes, since other intelligence indicates an imminant armed uprising to destroy machinary. Hobhouse states that it is unlikely that a rescue attempt for Bagguley, Johnstone and Drummond would succeed, but the Constable at Chester is aware of the possibility. Sidmouth approves of the prosecution of Waddington's 'tormentors'. The Solicitor of the Treasury will be writing to Mr Ravaldo. The costs incurred by Fletcher amounting to £234 9s. 3d will be refunded on the production of a bill, although Sidmouth has commented that the amount is rather high.
