Description

Pages 361-362. H Hobhouse to Major General Sir John Byng. Hobhouse thanks him for his letter of 4 March. Sidmouth had not known about the arms depot at Chester. Hobhouse states that the Duke of Wellington had ordered the removal of all such insecure depots, but if this one remains Sidmouth agrees that the whole of the 52 d. should be moved there, in small detachments, for inspection. Hobhouse will send Byng an extract of a letter from Norris, the Magistrate at Manchester, which corroborates intelligence from XY.
