Description

North America and Arctic Ocean (area later in Northwest Territories, now Nunavut Territory, Canada). Map of Beechey Island, off Devon Island, drawn on the expedition commanded by Inglefield and McClure in search of Sir John Franklin's party. The position of the ship [unidentified; possibly either HMS Investigator or HMS Phoenix] when driven into the ice is also shown. Reference table. Scale: 1 inch to 1500 feet.
