'Sketch map of North China showing latest developments regarding railways and mining prospects 24th Feby. 1898': covering territory as far south as Shanghai and as far west as Taiyuan, Shanxi province, showing rivers, seas, canals, high land, place names, provincial boundaries, operating and proposed railways, and coal and iron mines; also showing Weihai as being occupied by Japanese troops, and the Jiaozhou territory (in red) as being leased to Germany. Scale: 1 inch to 18.5 miles. Initialled: A W, Peking (Beijing), 24 February 1898.
