The Registrar General for England and Wales, in accordance with their duties under the Marriage Act 1949 and the Civil Partnership Act 2004, issues guidance. The guidance supplement the Marriages and Civil Partnerships (Approved Premises) Regulations 2005 as amended (2005 Regulations) to provide the public, local authorities, registration officers and faith groups with information on the regime to approve premises for the solemnization of civil marriages and the registration of civil partnerships.
